Suowo Short Link: A Real Experience from Mistakes to Effective Use

Many people in marketing promotion who often need to share long content have probably encountered that frustrating situation: when a long link is sent, it either gets blocked by the platform, leads to a 404 error, or is full of messy intermediate redirect ads that users dare not click. I’ve stepped on many such pitfalls before, until I found this tool I’m using now, which solved most of the problems.
At first, I also thought all short links were similar, so I searched for a free one and used it. As a result, the generated links expired after a few days, and there was no customer service to contact. Some tools were even more problematic — they inserted several forced redirect ads in the generated links. I earned a few cents for each click, but those clicks were all spam traffic and useless. Later I realized that not all free short links are the same; many that look free actually earn from ad revenue, without maintaining link stability or providing useful auxiliary functions for users.
What I’m most satisfied with this tool is its anti-blocking feature. Previously, when I promoted a Taobao campaign for a friend, using other tools to send links to WeChat groups, they were judged as ads and blocked within three days, with most links unopenable. Links generated on this platform, whether sent in groups or SMS, can be opened normally most of the time, with very few interceptions.
As for its bulk generation function, I once helped a merchant promote more than a dozen products. I manually pasted long links one by one, which took half an hour and I even made two input errors. The bulk generation on this platform is extremely convenient: just paste all long links line by line, click once and all corresponding short links are generated, saving a lot of unnecessary repetitive work and no errors.
There’s also data statistics. I didn’t even know that short links need to check data before using this tool. Now I can see the click count, access location of each link, and even which platform the user came from — WeChat group, Weibo or Xiaohongshu? For example, when sending promotion links for different regions, I can see the click volume of corresponding areas, so next time I can adjust the promotion direction and focus on channels with good conversion.
Compared with other similar platforms, its advantages are quite obvious. Many free tools either require you to upload business licenses and fill in a lot of qualification materials, which is impossible for individual users to use; or they cut most functions, leaving only the most basic one-click shortening, without even click data; some platforms use domain names that look like spam ads, so users delete them directly when seeing them, leading to extremely low click-through rates. This platform supports custom domains. I later changed the default domain to my own small domain, so users know it’s my product instead of a spam link, and the click-through rate has increased significantly.
However, there are a few pitfalls to avoid when using it, don’t follow my old mistakes.
- Don’t use free tools that require binding a phone number and sharing to Moments; links generated by such tools are prone to failure and may leak personal information
- When generating links in bulk, don’t upload too many at once — follow the platform’s limits, otherwise it may fail to load and you’ll have to redo it, wasting time
- The anti-blocking feature is not omnipotent; don’t add overly obvious marketing words like “place order” or “cashback” to short links. Even with anti-blocking enabled, they may still be identified as ads by the platform and affect redirection
- Don’t click links recommended by the platform in the free version, otherwise your account may be marked and the stability of generated links will be affected
This tool is suitable for a wide range of people: small merchants doing WeChat group promotion, bloggers promoting on Xiaohongshu and Weibo, ordinary people who need to share long documents but find long links unattractive, and even those who need to send targeted links to users for offline events. It doesn’t cost a penny, and most practical functions can be used for free. For individual users and small teams, it’s more than enough, with no unnecessary tricks or forced upgrades to paid plans — this is much more reliable than many similar platforms. I’ve tried several other tools before, either they limit functions after a few uses, or the short links expire. Since using this one, I haven’t encountered such issues; the link connectivity has always been stable, saving me a lot of energy on managing promotions.
