pilipili is a practical niche anime streaming resource site

The small site I’ve been using for anime watching for quite a while — I want to share my honest thoughts

Official website: https://tv.pilipili6.top/

During that period, I was looking for two old Japanese anime from over a decade ago, plus several niche anime with uncensored versions. I tried many similar anime streaming sites — either too many ads to watch properly, or no resources found, or clicking in would redirect to other messy sites — until I stumbled upon this one, which solved my headache back then.

When I first started using it, I fell for two pretty big pitfalls, now I’ll remind new users:

  • Don’t just focus on the “New Anime Recommendations” on the homepage; many well-hidden old anime and uncensored resources are in the sub-sections of the sidebar. I missed them when I first looked for old anime, taking a big detour;
  • Don’t just type the full name when searching; add qualifiers like “Completed” or “Movie Edition” to reduce irrelevant results. For example, add “Completed” when looking for old anime, add “Ongoing” when looking for new anime, which can directly filter out unavailable resources.

Speaking of the core practical value of this site, it’s actually that “niche but sufficient” fit: it doesn’t have the overwhelming licensed resources of big platforms, but the stock of niche, old, and uncensored anime is much larger than many similar free sites. Also, no subscription is needed — you can start watching right away. For someone like me who only likes specific anime, this is much more practical than the “all but messy” big platforms.

When it comes to functional experience, several details are quite touching:

  • The “New Anime Progress Chart” is updated weekly, showing the update time of all anime in the current season and whether there’s a break. No need to check each one manually; I never missed updates for the few niche new anime I follow;
  • The Chinese anime section isn’t just piling up content; it actually digs out some works that aren’t very popular but have good quality. It’s not the routine of only promoting popular anime, which is quite friendly for those of us who want to support Chinese anime but don’t want to chase overhyped ones;
  • The bullet comment atmosphere is okay. Although there are occasionally inconsiderate comments, overall it’s not as noisy as some big platforms. Also, old viewers often share links to uncensored versions in the anime comment sections, which is much more reliable than searching blindly.

Compared with several similar platforms I’ve used before, this site has obvious advantages and disadvantages: the advantage is few ads (almost no pop-ups, at most a small banner at the bottom of the page), the update speed of free resources is not slow (usually resources are available on the same day new anime is released), the community is small but everyone talks about anime content, no irrelevant stuff; the disadvantages are also obvious, such as most resources are only 720P, a few are 480P, if you want high-definition resources you have to wait for old viewers to upload new ones, some niche anime have machine-translated subtitles, not as smooth as official translations from big platforms, and occasionally some resources are broken, so you have to switch to other links.

Here are some pitfalls I’ve learned from experience, all practical tips:

  • Don’t just search for keywords when looking for uncensored versions; post a question in the community directly, or browse the anime comment sections, many resources are hidden in old posts;
  • If a certain anime’s resources are broken, don’t rush to uninstall it; go to the “Request Resources” section of the community to mention it, and someone will post a new link in less than half a day;
  • Don’t click on strange icons on the homepage casually; although there are no ads, some unknown links will redirect to other sites, just click on the anime title to enter the playback page.

The people suitable for this site are actually “relaxed anime watching” ordinary anime fans: not pursuing extreme high-definition quality, not wanting to subscribe to watch anime, liking to find old anime, uncensored versions or niche Chinese anime, can accept occasional small flaws, and care more about being able to easily find the content they want, rather than core fans who treat anime as a traffic product. On the contrary, if you want to find officially licensed anime, or pursue top high-definition quality, this site may not meet your needs, it’s better to go to big platforms.

I now use it regularly every week to follow new anime and find old ones. Although there are some small flaws, for someone like me who doesn’t have much time to fuss, it’s already good enough. At least I don’t have to be troubled by ads and resource takedowns anymore.
