Google Search

Many people’s first attempt at using Google Search hits a snag right at the step of “directly searching for the official website” — it’s not directly accessible in China, and typing the URL directly either leads to a blank page or garbled text.

How can you use Google Search?

Official website: https://www.google.com/

Don’t trust mirror sites found via random online searches — most either host malware or insert ads into search results, and even basic image search won’t work properly. If you really want to use it, first confirm your network environment meets the requirements; don’t take risks by clicking unfamiliar links just for speed.

Pitfall 1: Searching randomly for mirror sites leads to a bunch of invalid results?

  • Don’t click unfamiliar links with terms like “Google Mirror” or “Google Search Entry” — 90% of these are either for traffic diversion or host malware. The results they return are incomplete and may even steal your browser data.
  • If you need to use Google Search, prioritize compliant access methods. Don’t cut corners by using unofficial sites — it wastes time and is unsafe.

What inefficient operations can be avoided when using Google Search?

Most people only dare to enter one or two keywords before submitting a search on Google, but in fact, its algorithm can help you save at least half the screening time — its core functions are all designed to “reduce invalid information”.

Pitfall 2: Can’t find useful content even after scrolling through dozens of pages?

  • You don’t need to flip pages manually to find content. Its intelligent algorithm filters out duplicate and low-quality content, with at least 6 out of every 10 results directly matching your search intent.
  • For example, if you search for “New energy vehicle policies in 2024”, it will directly put the latest policy documents and official interpretations in the top 3 results — you don’t have to sift through hundreds of irrelevant pieces of information yourself.
  • Even for colloquial queries, like “How do I adjust my computer’s brightness”, it can recognize a clear search need and won’t show you irrelevant entertainment content.

Pitfall 3: Can only find blurry images when searching for pictures?

  • Its image search can filter high-definition images. Select the “Large size” and “Transparent background” options, and the images returned will mostly have a resolution above 1920*1080 — enough for design or making PPTs.
  • It can also search for similar images. For example, if you have a screenshot of a product, uploading it will help you find the same high-definition original image — much more accurate than domestic image search engines.

Can Google Search’s niche functions save you a lot of trouble?

Many people only know it can search for text, but in fact, several of its niche functions are far more useful than ordinary tools in specific scenarios — you don’t need to install extra software.

Pitfall 4: Can’t type to search while driving or exercising?

  • Voice search doesn’t require typing. Just say phrases like “gas stations nearby” or “weather in Beijing tomorrow” to your phone — its colloquial recognition accuracy reaches 95%, 3 times faster than manual typing.
  • It’s optimized for mobile devices. Even with poor signal, the response time is no more than 2 seconds — you won’t have to wait around.
  • There’s also music search: enter a song name and it will directly jump to the official playback link, and you can also find the singer’s background information — no need to open a separate music app to search.

Pitfall 5: The results are messy when you want to search for content you’re interested in?

  • Its personalized recommendations will rank content you often view higher based on your search history. For example, if you often search for outdoor camping, next time you search for “tent recommendations”, the top 5 results will all be product information that meets your needs.
  • It can also help you organize your interests. For example, if you’ve searched for “baking recipes” a few times, it will recommend related recipes on the homepage — you don’t have to sift through all kinds of irrelevant content yourself.
