Comicat Anime BT Resource Sharing Experience
Official Website: http://www.comicat.org/
Previously, I was looking for a RAW source of an old anime. I tried several popular anime resource sites, but either the links were all dead, or clicking on them popped up a bunch of download windows with malicious plugins. I spent almost a week with no results. Later, a friend who works in a subbing team told me that to find such high-quality sources, I should go to official-operated platforms, which is how I got to know Comicat Anime BT, and it has since become my go-to tool.
When I first started using it, I fell into several typical pitfalls, which are also common mistakes for new users. I need to mention them to give a heads-up:
- I thought I could only download the subbed versions encoded by the Comicat subbing team, but in fact, there is a RAW section, an anime & games section, and doujin-related resources hidden in the categories. Many people only click on the homepage’s popular section, completely ignoring these entrances, so they can’t find the niche content they want.
- I thought resources had to be shared by others, but after registering, I found that compliant resources can be posted and uploaded by myself, not limited to requesting. This even saved me a lot of time looking for resources.
- I didn’t know how to use precise search, only searching by anime title. In fact, adding keywords like “RAW” or “OST” can directly locate the special resources you want, instead of sifting through a bunch of miscellaneous resources for half an hour.
After actually using it, I realized that the core advantage of this site is the reliability of its resources. Since it is officially operated, it won’t upload fake resources or small compressed files to pass off as the real thing like personal sites do. For example, the RAW sources I need are mostly extracted from original discs, with sufficient clarity and no embedded extra subtitles, which is extremely practical for people who encode or do fan creation. Previously, the RAW sources I found on other sites either had heavy watermarks or were transcoded compressed versions, and this site rarely has such problems.
Among the sub-functions, I think the comment section is a well-hidden gem. Many users will post the real status of the resources below, such as “torrent is active”, “it’s an original version without subtitles”, “stuck at 99% download”, so you don’t have to test blindly, saving a lot of energy. Also, although the category layout is not one-click accessible, after figuring out a few core sections, the efficiency of finding resources is higher than many similar sites. For example, to find anime OST, you can directly click on the music section and filter to find lossless formats, instead of searching in cloud drives for half a day only to find it’s 320K low-quality audio.
Compared with other popular anime BT sites, this site is quite different, mainly in the following points:
- There are extremely few ads. I almost never encountered malicious pop-up ads that jump to irrelevant websites when clicked. At most, there is a very small promotional bar on the homepage, which doesn’t affect finding resources at all.
- Resources are retained for a long time. Many personal sites’ resources become dead torrents just one or two months after upload. Since this site is officially operated, it won’t delete resources randomly. Old resources often have people uploading to keep seeding, so you won’t have the situation where you can’t download after searching for a long time.
- The community atmosphere is different. It’s not a platform purely for requesting; people will share resources with each other. Sometimes you post a request for a niche resource, and someone will reply with a link soon, which is much more efficient than searching blindly.
As for tips to avoid pitfalls, a few details need attention: First, when looking for torrents, don’t just look at the number of torrents. Focus on the upload time. Newly uploaded torrents have a lower probability of being dead, while old torrents may have thousands of downloads but no seeding. Second, when uploading resources, try to write clear information, such as anime title, episode number, whether it’s RAW, otherwise others can’t search for it and it’s easy to have your post deleted. Third, don’t click on clickbait resources with titles like “Free Full Episodes” or “HD Uncensored” — many of them jump to other websites and are useless.
As for who is suitable for using this site, I think it’s quite clear: For example, subbing teams or people doing fan creation who need RAW sources, those who like to collect anime OST and game resources, those looking for old niche anime, doujin content, and fellow enthusiasts who want to share their own resources. However, if you only want to watch ready-made popular subbed anime and hate the trouble of finding resources, it may not be suitable. Because there is no one-click entrance to popular anime here, you have to spend some time searching for what you want.
Of course, there are also minor flaws. For example, the search function sometimes malfunctions, and complex keywords can’t be found. You have to change to simple keywords to try again. But overall, it’s much more worry-free than other similar tools. At least you don’t have to worry about downloading fake resources or encountering malicious ads anymore.
In addition to looking for sources, I also come here to find Chinese patches for old games, many of which can’t be found elsewhere. The fellow enthusiasts in the community are also very helpful. If you have a question, post it and someone will reply soon. For anime lovers, it’s a place where you can dig up a lot of treasures.
