Official Website: https://www.chinafilm.org.cn/
China Film Distribution and Exhibition Association (CFDEA) was established in 1985. It is a national non-profit social organization voluntarily formed by corporate legal persons related to national film distribution, exhibition, equipment, technology research and development, etc. Its competent authority is the State Administration of Radio, Film and Television, and it is supervised and managed by the Ministry of Civil Affairs of the People’s Republic of China. It serves as an important bridge connecting the government and the industry.
Focusing on the core development needs of the film industry, the association undertakes several key functions:
- Protect the legitimate rights and interests of member units, and coordinate and solve common industry problems;
- Publicize and implement national film policies and regulations, and guide enterprises to operate in compliance with laws and regulations;
- Conduct industry research and provide data support for policy formulation;
- Formulate industry rules and conventions, and promote industry standardization;
- Organize technical grade and quality assessment, cinema star rating, and improve industry service levels;
- Carry out research on film industry reform, academic theoretical discussions, and excellent works award activities.
As of April 2024, the association has 7 internal institutions (including the Finance Department, Office, Film Statistics Data Center, etc.) and 8 branches (such as the Urban Cinema Branch, Ethnic Minority Language Film Branch, Film Marketing Professional Committee, etc.), with nearly 1,000 member units covering all links of the film industry chain.
The association continues to deliver industry value achievements. The released China Film Market Report provides data reference for industry development. During the epidemic, multiple versions of the Guidelines for Epidemic Prevention and Control for the Reopening of Film Screening Venues were launched, clarifying epidemic prevention requirements such as audience limits and disinfection procedures to ensure the safe resumption of work in the industry. In addition, by organizing activities such as industry exchange seminars, international cooperation docking, and local market research, it promotes industry resource integration and innovation and upgrading.
As an authoritative organization in China’s film industry, the China Film Distribution and Exhibition Association always takes promoting the sustainable development of the industry as its mission, playing a key role in standardizing market order, safeguarding the rights and interests of enterprises, and guiding industrial upgrading, helping China’s film market continuously move towards a new stage of high-quality development.
